I just live this porcelain!!! Found it on a flea market outside Milano and payed nothing. It's from a German porcelain factory but belonged to a Sicilian aristocratic family. Now it decorates my dinner table when fish is on the menu :)

Chelini chair

We have an empty wall in our living room where I would like to put a beautiful chair of some kind. I'm always keeping my eyes open when we're around for flea markets but for now I haven't yet found The chair. I know one though that I would love. We have it at Ivory, www.facebook.com/ivoryvintage and it's from the Italian firm Chelini Firenze, www.chelini.it. It's handmade and the design is amazing, classy but still fun. Unfortunately the price, 1500€, is too much for me... But it would be perfect dressed in a cerise raw silk fabric or a cream white. I keep on dreaming :)

B&B dream

Yesterday we spent on the hillside outside Piacenza in a friends old farmhouse. He got it when his grandma died and she'd lived there all her life with animals and land. Now the fields are rented and there are no animals but the house is left exactly as it was and it's a real pearl. There would be a lot of work to do to get it in good shape again but it has a lot of possibility. With a garden full of flowers and fruit trees and many rooms it could be a perfect B&B.. I know it's not mine but my dream of a small romantic little hotel is always present ;)

Pasta with sea food an ruccola

For lunch today we enjoyed a tasty and simple pasta. With fresh sea food, good veggies and full grain pasta you get a really healthy meal in just a few minutes.

What you need is:
Good olive oil
Garlic
Sea food
Ruccola
Basilica
Sweet small tomatoes
Chilli
Salt
Spaghetti

Let the garlic and a piece of chilli fry gently with the olive oil and add the sea food. Let it go until it's ready and add ruccola and fresh basilica. When the ruccola softened add fresh tomatoes. Season with salt and add a bit of pasta water for a creamier sauce. Remove the garlic and mix with spaghetti.

Serve and enjoy!

Week with my parents

5 days passed so fast but we managed to do a lot if things even though the heat almost killed us. Over 35 degrees every day!!!
The first day I took them to the sea side and a lovely swim in Camogli and a tasty gelato in Portofino. My mother fell in love with Portifino and it's pitoresque architecture and luxurious culture (why am I not surprised ;).
Tuesday we went to the countryside outside Piacenza for a refreshing bath in the river Trebbia and a walk in Bobbio. Wednesday and Thursday were relaxing days at Ivory and good food in small restaurants. Today they left and they will now enjoy a lovely Swedish summer in the south of Sweden and I can't wait to see them at the Skanian seaside in the end of July :)

Peggy Guggenheim

An other eccentric and inspiring woman was Peggy Guggenheim. She was a bohemian and socialite american woman borne in to a wealthy family. During her years she created a big and famous art collection primarily between 1938 and 1946. In 1949 after some years in Europe she moved her whole collection to Venice in Italy and opened up for the public. Peggy died in Venice in 1979.
I just love her for her strong business mind and for her cool style. Love her glasses!!!

Even found a very old picture of me from Swedish Elle 2006 with Peggy's glasses :)

Wedding sweets

When you go to weddings in Italy the wedding couple always give all guest small confections of frosted almonds. I always asked my self what to do with these almonds since no one eats them ( too sweet and hard). After a while you found them dusty in a corner in your kitchen and you want to throw them away but feel sorry to loose a memory from a beautiful day... Finally I found a place for them. They look really nice in our small crystal box in the living room, will be really attractive for all kids coming visiting ;)

Wedding in France/Switzerland

Here are some pics from our second wedding weekend for this year.
We stayed in a cute little hotel in the small city Evian in France where the wedding party took place. The proper ceremony was in a castle in Aigle in the Swiss alps though, and all guests got a shuttle transport back and forth to Evian. Everything was do perfect!!!

Ivory vintage shooting

We at Ivory- vintage & luxury www.facebook.com/ivoryvintage together with photographer www.lovebynikkadimroci.com and makeup artist Chiara Cantù are organizing vintage photo shootings for events like bachelorette parties, birthdays, engagements or just for fun.
Yesterday afternoon we had a lovely young couple over for a shooting in 50's style. Sweet Luca had been surprising his girlfriend with this unexpected gift and she was so happy (and lucky having a boyfriend like him). We were all stunned by their beauty and the pictures will turn out great!

If you are interested in booking a vintage shooting with us just contact me or us at Ivory.

Here are some backstage pics from yestarday:

Man Ray

I got so happy when I found a photo book with Man Ray's art on a flea market last sunday. He is one of my favorite artists and I almost get goose bumps looking at his pieces. It atracts me so much his way of capturing sadness, eroticism, mysticism and oriental influences.

Man Ray was born as Emmanuel Radinzky in Pennsylania 1890 but lived most of his life in France where he worked as a modernist artist and became a significant contributor to the Dada and Surrealist movements.
At the age of 27 he started to take pictures of his own art and from there on he got in to experimenting with different lights and subjects. He got most famous for his Avant Garde photography and as a fashion and portrait photographer.
Man Ray died in Paris 1976.

My lovely book, so happy :)
Self portarait of Man Ray himself.
