Weekend by lago di Garda

Spent a lovely long weekend with our Swedish/Italian friends who have a house by the Garda lake. Francesco and Stefano knows each other from their Erasmus year in Uppsala and Francesco ended up staying in Sweden as a professor and is now married to amazing Anna. Weekends with them are always so relaxing and full of laughter and interesting conversations :)
This time we were lucky getting invited to the Dire Straits consent in Padova as well. Francesco's friend Marco had got free tickets and the possibility to talk to the band members since he is producing wine for them and we ended up coming with. So Friday night was spent in the garden av a wonderful old nobel villa outside Padova where they hold their consent.
Saturday and Sunday were instead just full of good food, the company of friends and refreshing baths in the lake. Just as it should always be :)

Dream vacation

Ended up watching a documentary about one of Greece's most well known designers the other day and just got so amazed by his story.
His name is Dimitris Tsitouras and he started his career as a lawyer with a big passion for art. His collection just got bigger and bigger and at one point he desided to open up a small luxury hotel at his favorite greek island Santorini to have a place to exhibit his pieces... His hotel got well known for its exclusivity and interior designs and very soon he got famous clients like Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier, the Moschino designers and many others... Valentino and Tsitourars become good friends and after some years Valentino managed to convince his friend to start working full time with design. Now Tsitouras can be compared with a Greek Hermes and his designs are well known all over the world.

Watching this documentary I just found my dream destination for a romantic vacation. His interior designs are so me, the hotel is small and privat with a breath taking view over the sea and small greek islands and the fact to be surrounded by world famous art pieces like Picasso paintings or original Lord Byron books would be really amazing.

Here I'll give you the link to the hotel website ( for who can afford it ;): http://www.tsitouras.com/

and some pics borrowed from the same site.

Grey Gardens

One of my favorite movies is "Grey Gardens" which is based on a real story.
In the 70's there was a documentary ( see the original trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI62e0fRieo) made about two upperclass relatives to Jackie Kennedy, a mother and a her doughter, who ended up in real miserable decadence when they lost their money and sense. This movie is from 2009 and is inspired by that documentary. In the cast you see Jessica Lange as the mother and Drew Barrymore as the doughter.
For me, who love aristocratic decadence, this movie is so inspiring. Their way of dressing up is so cool if you see it with a fashion eye point of view and even though their story is very sad I get so fascinated by their fate.

Lago Maggiore

My favorite Sundays are spent on the countryside. I've been growing up in Sweden in a green neighborhood with villas and gardens and the forest around the corner so spending a day by the lake or on the hillside is like medicine for my soul.
Yesterday we visited our friends in their parents place, in a small village by Lake Maggiore. Lovely day with sun, good food, joy, and love. I don't need more.

Fish dinner

I just live this porcelain!!! Found it on a flea market outside Milano and payed nothing. It's from a German porcelain factory but belonged to a Sicilian aristocratic family. Now it decorates my dinner table when fish is on the menu :)
